PLAYBOATING CLINIC ON THE CHATTAHOOCHEE RIVER

Ready for some warm weather playboating before snow and winter sets in?!

Then come join Outdoor New England for a playboating clinic on the Chattahoochee River near Columbus, Georgia. We will have instruction from Stephen Wright and Mason Hargrove over the course of the 3-day weekend. Stephen and Mason are amazing instructors and are members of the US freestyle kayaking team. Whether you are working on surfing, spinning, blunting or perfecting more advanced moves, there will be something for everyone. The clinics will take place at the RushSouth Whitewater Park. This park is a mixture of man-made whitewater features, as well as natural flow channels, located on the Chattahoochee River. It was designed to provide a challenging and exciting experience for kayakers of all skill levels. At this time of year the water is still warm and air temperatures will be very comfortable.

This park features several different channels with varying degrees of difficulty. Starting at the top of the run, there is the wave called “Ambush.” Ambush is a smaller wave with a tricky move to get into it, but once in it, it is a great wave for beginners and experts alike to hone their skills. As one travels down the river there are several rapids and different channels to choose from, each providing something fun and different! Following the rapids you come to the last feature of the park, the Good Wave which is a world-class whitewater feature that has been home to numerous whitewater festivals as well as several Freestyle World championships.

Whether you are a just getting into play boating or experienced with advanced tricks, there’s going to be something for everyone at this clinic. The clinic will run from October 17-20, 2024. The plan will be to arrive on Oct 17th and get outfitted with Jackson Rockstar V boats from Whitewater Express.Thursday – Saturday there will be 4-hour clinics with Stephen and Mason followed by open paddling time to work on what you are learning. We will wrap up midday on Saturday so that you can catch flights back home, or stay through Sunday morning. The price of the clinic includes lodging, breakfast, lunches, instruction and boat/paddle rentals. Lodging will be 4 nights from Thurs, Oct 17th – Sunday, Oct 20th. Each participant will be responsible for their paddling gear (paddling top, skirt, PFD, helmet) and you will be on your own for dinners. It is expected that this clinic will fill quickly so if you are interested, do not delay in reserving your spot.

The total cost of the clinic is $999 and we need a deposit of $250 by Sept 31st. The balance $749 will be due on Oct 10th.

There are 2 options for flights; Columbus or Atlanta GA. Atlanta is about 70 miles away and will require a car rental. The Columbus Airport is just a short Uber/Lyft to downtown.
